Forestry Foreman

The Opportunity: Become a key player in a busy forestry operation, confidently leading a team to efficiently deliver routine forest operations with unparalleled pride and quality of service! A hands-on, field-based role, the Forestry Foreman will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating forestry operations from planting through to harvesting at our client's busy sites across Mid Wales and the Welsh Borders. With proven leadership skills, you will supervise and manage a small team ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Role Responsibilities:

  • To lead, motivate, and manage a team of forestry workers
  • To plan and organise the delivery of daily forestry operations
  • To work collaboratively with the team, undertaking hands-on work from planting trees through to harvesting
  • To ensure all forestry operations are conducted in accordance with health and safety and company protocol
  • To complete and maintain accurate records of work
  • To address and resolve any issues that may arise from the daily forestry operations
  • To participate in training and personal development activities


Skills you will need:
Essential:

  • Proven practical experience of daily forestry operations e.g. tree planting, pruning, fencing, thinning and harvesting
  • Experience of successfully managing a small team
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Highly organised with strong communication skills
  • Highly proficient in the use of forestry equipment
  • Chainsaw and Quad/ATV competency certificate
  • PA1 and PA6 qualifications
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
  • A collaborative team player
  • A proactive, practical and resourceful person with a hands-on approach
  • Clean UK driving licence
